Kayne West & Jay-Z - H.A.M.

Kanye West & Jay-Z - Watch The Throne
Hot off the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kayne is prepping a collaboration album with Jay-Z, titled (as of now) Watch The Throne.  The first single off of the album is H.A.M. or short for Hard As A Motherfucker, which should be H.A.A.M., and would make me think of deli meats instead of making me want to roll big.  Sound wise, the song is a mess, and sounds nothing like the songs from the loved, MBDTF or anything Jay-Z or Kanye has rapped over.  The beats in the song are awful and sounds like something that would be written by The Lonely Island for an SNL short.  Then there are the strings section that was added to the song, whose addition wouldn't make any sense, but I guess it would add to the song's "hard as a motherfucker" sound.  The duo sounded like they were trying to achieve this epic sound, but fail with all of those generic 808 beats. This song really doesn't make me want to be H.A.M.
The solo efforts of Kanye West and Jay-Z are no doubt excellent, and the idea of bringing these two giants in rap music together would be a great idea, but instead give us a really bad song with the same generic beats we always hear, and singing to us the same old things rap music has been feeding us with ideas of pimping out, rolling deep, and getting bitches.

Verdict: 3/10
